How To Create A Spa Day At Home Pt. 2

I talked about creating a quick, cheap, and easy, spa day at home already, but if you have more time on you day off, let’s continue the at home spa experience.

Face Mask

I know quite a few people who stand by face masks. I’m new to this territory so I can’t give you a great review about it yet. I do want to try face masks because I know they would be a great addition to my at home spa day! Do you use face masks? What kind would you recommend?

Foot Scrub

We gave our bodies a sugar scrub so let’s treat our feet with the same love. After a bath is the best time to scrub your feet. Your skin will be soft and easy to scrub off with a foot stone. After soaking and scrubbing, use a foot lotion or Vaseline and put a sock on. Your feet will be noticeably softer.

Nail Care

On spa days, I like to do my nails, but I like to do this last. I don’t want to mess up my wet nails fumbling with my face mask or something else. After scrubbing my heels and moisturizing my skin, my nails need to be repainted. Clip, file, and buff your nails for great shape and natural shine. Set up your station with your favorite nail polishes and towels. Do your feet first then your hands.

How to Create A Spa Day at Home

We live busy and hectic lives. Sometimes we just need a break, a massage, or a full spa day. But we don’t always have the time or the money. I’ve created a list of things that you may already have in your home. If you don’t, these items are all pretty cheap ($1-$10) and easily accessible at your local Target, drugstore, or dollar store.

Candles

I love all kinds of candles and I always have one burning! For the purpose of relaxation, go for a calming and soothing scent like lavender, vanilla, eucalyptus, or peppermint. This will set the mood for your relaxing day. Be sure to dim your lights or take them off and use as much candle light as possible.

The Bath

Make sure your tub is clean! We don’t want any issues! Fill your tub with warm water. I like to put it as hot as I can handle but not hot enough to burn me. The warmth will loosen up your muscles and the steam will open up your pores and sinus cavities for better breathing. At this time you can play some soothing music or pick out a book you’ve been wanting to start for your bath.

Bath Bombs, Bubbles, & Epsom Salt

Add bath bombs, bubbles, or Epsom salt or any combination of the three to your bath water.

I just tried a bath bomb for the first time the other day. I don’t really see the hype about bath bombs. It was fun watching the Alka-Seltzer like fizz in the tub, but other than that, I don’t see the hype.

Bubbles are just fun to play with! Who takes bubble baths without bubbles? I mean it’s in the name!
The Epsom Salt is great for relaxing your muscles as well. Pair an eucalyptus scented Epsom salt with the steam from the hot water and you have a great environment for people with breathing and sinus problems. For me personally, the mint and steam opens up my airways. I also love the lavender scent. It’s so relaxing.

Sugar Scrub

Sugar scrubs are great for exfoliating your skin. Exfoliation helps rejuvenate your skin by rubbing off the dead skin cells and revealing the new skin cells underneath. I got my scrub from TARGET. It’s cheap, smells great, and leaves my skin feeling soft with a glow. I use it on my face as well and I’ve noticed a drastic improvement in my complexion. My skin is even and soft. These are my own experiences. Your experience may be different from mine.

Moisturizing Body Lotion

After you soak for at least 15 minutes, I tend to get carried away and soak for 45 minutes, lightly dry your skin and use your favorite moisturizing lotion. Spend time massaging your body and use plenty of it. As you lotion apply more pressure than usual. Work out any tension you feel in your neck, shoulder, legs, etc. You know your body and you know what needs to be worked.

TreeHut Shea Sugar Scrub Review

This last Christmas 2015 I themed my gifts to “me time” with candles, nail polish, and sugar scrubs. I’ve never used a sugar scrub before but I felt my skin needed some love. So I went back to Target for one of the sugar scrubs I got my friends and family for Christmas. After my first use, I completely fell in love!

My skin looked refreshed and it was soft to touch. Even my hands were softer. I’ve always had hard-ish hands because of the rings and monkey bars in elementary school, not moisturizing in middle school, and softball in high school. But honestly, I just think my hands are naturally harder than the average lady. I don’t have man hands, but they’re not delicate. So when I used the sugar scrub, it was quite shocking feeling how soft my hands were.

I used it on my face and after about 3 uses, once a week or so, my family started noticing an improvement in my complexion. My skin looked softer and hydrated. My intake of water could also be adding to this new even complexion of mine but I know the sugar scrub is working as well!

Tree hut has a handful of scents to choose from. I got mine from Target but I see them in other stores as well.

A Black & Silver January

I’ve been obsessed with black and silver nails this January. Maybe I’ve been carrying out the new year color palate but black is so chic and silver just pairs so nicely. I haven’t been too creative with my nails since high school. Frankly, I just don’t have the time like I did back then to experiment. So my nails are just plain black and my ring fingers are silver. I used Wet n Wild’s Metallica and Black Crème, both are in the Wildshine collection.

You can get these for $1 at Walgreens, CVS, Target and any where that carries Wet n Wild products.

I tried thinking of 5 things I try to do everyday and the list is a lot longer than five. So I thought, I’d focus on five things I try to do everyday to keep myself healthy.

Smile

Smiling and laughing, even if you’re not actually happy can make your overall mood a little more pleasant. I want you to try it right now. Go look in the mirror, or stay where you are and smile. Feel how your entire face lifts up?Your eyes brighten, your cheeks flex. Now I want you to laugh. Go ahead! Laugh to yourself. Laugh louder! Breathe deeply and laugh from your diaphragm. Do you feel that? Side comment: have you ever heard a laugh that was funnier than the joke and you started laughing uncontrollably and the person’s like, “It wasn’t that funny.”? That’s how I want you to laugh! It may feel silly at first but after you hear yourself laughing, you might start laughing more! And, I guarantee you’ll feel happier!

Vitamins

I try so very hard to take my vitamins everyday, especially since I’m growing my hair out now. (That’s a whole other topic!) When I was a child, my mom always made me take my vitamins. She would tell me eat my carrots for my eyes and drink milk for my bones, but when it came to those disgusting vitamins I had to take everyday, UGHHHH, I hated it! But as an adult, I see why it’s so important to take your vitamins, especially since our eating isn’t always up to par. But to this day, I can’t handle the taste of vitamins, so I take the adult gummies from Costco. They taste like gummy bears.

I chopped off my hair in March of 2015 because I just didn’t have time to twist up my hair every night and work hours on my senior project. I didn’t even have time to sleep! I also just wanted a completely new look so, I did some research on natural shops, because not every hair salon knows how to work with my tightly coiled 4c hair, and got my hair cut. I loved the cut. I even splashed it up with some spray color from Jerome Russell in purple, blue, and red. Here’s a link to the company. http://jeromerussell.com/. Their temporary hair color sprays are amazing! I got mine from Walgreens for $4-$6. I love my hair cut, but I miss my hair. So, I’m growing it back out and to do that healthily, I have to make sure I moisturize it every day.

Water

5 Things I Try To Do Everyday

Drinking water in this hot desert hasn’t been much of a problem these past months for me. But I do try to monitor how much I’m actually drinking. They say to drink 64 ounces a day. I try to drink at least ¾ of that, 48 ounces, which is three, 16 oz. bottles of water a day. Sometimes I drink more, especially in these hot climates southern California has been having lately, but I try to have at very least 3 bottles. Don’t worry, I recycle!

5 Things I Try To Do Everyday

I know you guys were expecting this one and that’s why I saved it for last. I’ll be honest with you though, this is the one I most likely say, “Ohh, I’ll do it in the morning” and never do. I have my moments though. Sometimes I faithfully run/walk to the beach every evening. Sometimes I faithfully do 20 minutes of circuit type training at home with sit ups, jumping jacks, push ups, etc.. But most days, I exercise my hand and mouth coordination with eating food! It’s soo hard guys! Now I want to do some squats! I’ll do some stretching tonight for sure! Haha I’ll get it together, eventually!
